Answers about how PickStar works, what it costs, the sports it covers, and the tools inside it.

FAQ

What is PickStar, really?

PickStar is your personal sports research companion, powered by specialized AI agents, each built for a specific sport. Behind each agent sit dedicated databases tracking injuries, rosters, player stats, team standings, and historical performance. We pair that with real-time odds from multiple bookmakers and curated sports news, so every prediction comes with the context to understand it, not just numbers.

How does your AI work?

Each sport has its own dedicated AI agent backed by specialized databases. When you ask a question, the agent pulls from injury reports, roster data, player and team statistics, head-to-head records, and real-time odds across multiple bookmakers. It also searches curated sports news prioritized by recency, so breaking developments get surfaced first. When something changes, like a key player ruled out or a sudden line movement, the system reflects it immediately. Learn more about our AI technology.

Is PickStar just a ChatGPT wrapper?

No. A wrapper sends your question to a general model and returns what that model already learned during training, which for sports means information that stopped updating months ago. PickStar routes your question to a sport-specific agent that queries live sources before it answers: real-time odds from multiple bookmakers, continuously updated injury and roster databases, team and player statistics, head-to-head records, and curated sports news ranked by recency. Ask about tonight's game and the answer is built from tonight's data, including a line that moved an hour ago or a player ruled out this morning. A general assistant has no access to any of that. Learn more about our AI technology.

Does PickStar react to live changes?

Yes. Our system pulls real-time odds from multiple bookmakers, so when lines move, the AI has that data. Injury databases are updated continuously, so if a key player gets ruled out, it's reflected right away. Our news system prioritizes the most recent articles, meaning breaking developments surface fast. When you ask about a game, you're getting analysis based on current data, not yesterday's numbers.

Is PickStar legal to use?

Yes. PickStar is an informational service, not a bookmaker or gambling operator. We provide research, not betting services. You remain responsible for ensuring you comply with local laws.

How accurate are your picks?

We're radically transparent: win rates, historical results, and even our models' biases are published openly. No "get rich quick" nonsense: just cold, hard stats and up-to-date win rates. Track our performance live on the AI Exchange (AIX) and see the results page for all streaks, good and bad.

Who is PickStar for?

Anyone who wants to actually understand a game before acting on it. Bettors use PickStar to research matchups, compare live odds, and pressure-test their own reads. Fans use it to go deeper on the teams they follow. You bring the question; PickStar brings the odds, stats, injuries, and news to answer it.

What sports do you cover?

We cover 11 sports. Full AI analysis with dedicated agents, databases, and simulations: NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, NCAAF, NCAAB, and Soccer (global leagues including the Brasileirão, Premier League, La Liga, and more). WNBA, MMA/UFC, and Tennis coverage is in progress. Volleyball is stats dashboards only for now. For detailed breakdowns, visit our Sports Betting Guide.

How much does it cost?

PickStar is free every day, not a one-time trial. Every account gets a daily allowance of AI chat and xPicks that refreshes every single day, forever. Pro unlocks more of everything: 100 daily Star Coins, 1,500 bonus Star Coins every month, and a 20% discount on Star Coin purchases. Want extra runs on a big game day? You can buy Star Coins anytime. Visit our pricing page for full details.

Do you promote responsible gambling?

Yes, absolutely. PickStar is an advanced research tool, not a bookmaker. We provide data and insights to help you make informed decisions, but we don't facilitate betting itself. We encourage all users to gamble responsibly: set limits, never bet more than you can afford to lose, and seek help if gambling becomes a problem. Remember, no pick is guaranteed, and sports betting always involves risk. For more details, visit our responsible gaming resources.

Can I get a free trial or credits?

You don't need a trial: PickStar is free every day. Your daily allowance of AI chat and xPicks refreshes automatically, forever. On top of that, you can earn extra Star Coins through referrals, feedback, and select promotions. The more you take part, the more you unlock.

What payment methods do you accept?

If you choose to pay, everything runs through Stripe, the same payment platform used by millions of businesses worldwide. All major credit and debit cards are accepted, and prices are shown in your local currency where we support one, including US dollars, Brazilian reais, Mexican pesos, Argentine pesos, Chilean pesos, and Colombian pesos. In Brazil, you can also pay with PIX. When your checkout is in reais, PIX appears next to card as an option when you buy Star Coins.

Is my payment information secure?

Yes. Stripe handles the entire checkout, and it is certified to the highest level of the payment card industry's security standard. Your card details go straight to Stripe and are never sent to us, so PickStar never sees or stores your card number. You can cancel a subscription whenever you want, and buying Star Coins is a one-time purchase with nothing recurring attached.

Is AI always right?

No, and with LLMs occasionally you get a mistake or an error in response. We've fine-tuned this extensively to avoid errors but they do happen. That's why we show our work, so you can verify the reasoning and data behind every pick.

What if I disagree with a pick or want more explanation?

Challenge the AI directly! Ask follow-up questions like 'What about [specific factor]?' or 'How does [recent event] change this?' PickStar is trained to dig deeper when prompted. Try: 'Show me alternative scenarios,' 'What's the contrarian case?' or 'Break down the risk factors.' The AI learns from your pushback and often reveals insights it didn't surface initially. Every pick shows its reasoning, but the real value comes from the conversation. Treat it like interrogating a research analyst who has access to everything but sometimes needs the right questions to unlock the best insights.

Can I get API access or automate my workflow?

Enterprise and B2B API access are available for partners. Reach out if you want to power your own site or tool with PickStar insights at engineering@pickstarai.com

What data and features do I get for each sport?

Here's what each sport actually includes: NBA: Injury tracking, full rosters, player & team stats, head-to-head records, prop bet trends, player comparisons, standings, odds from multiple bookmakers, game simulations. NCAAB: Same depth as NBA, plus power index rankings and March Madness tournament support. NFL: Injury reports, rosters, player stats by position, team analytics, weekly schedules, multi-bookmaker odds, game simulations. NCAAF: Injuries, rosters, player data, odds, college football-specific analytics. NHL: Injury tracking, rosters, player stats, goalie-specific analytics, team advanced metrics, standings, odds. Soccer: Global league coverage with fixtures, lineups, match events, shots/corners, full player & team data, top scorers/assists/cards, pre-game and live in-play odds, injury tracking. MLB: Team and player stats, rosters, injury reports, odds, advanced stats. WNBA: Team & player stats, schedules, standings (coverage expanding). Data Hubs (stats dashboards, no AI simulations yet): International Baseball: Player/team stats, trends, historical comparisons. Volleyball: League & player stats, interactive dashboards. MMA/UFC: Fighter stats, matchup analysis, historical trends.

How do I handle large prop bet data for NBA?

PickStar can pull prop data for players, but with multiple games (e.g., 8 games × 10 players × multiple props), the payload becomes substantial and you might risk losing some data in the call. For best results, focus on a particular game first rather than requesting all available props at once. This approach will lead to more complete and accurate data for your analysis.

How does the news search feature work?

We maintain a curated sports news system that continuously collects and processes articles across all covered sports. When you click the 'Search' button in chat or when the AI needs context for a pick, it pulls the most relevant and recent articles, prioritizing breaking news over older content. This is how the AI catches things like recent form changes, tactical shifts, and storylines that raw stats alone miss.

How do I copy message output?

Simply click the copy button next to the thumbs up on any message to copy its content to your clipboard. This makes it easy to save important insights or share them elsewhere.

How do I get started?

Create a free account to get daily free simulations. Start with our free tier to explore the platform, then upgrade to Pro for more access and advanced features when you're ready. Check out our getting started guide for a step-by-step walkthrough.

What is the best way to query AI?

You can ask PickStar a variety of betting-related questions, such as: - 'What are the odds for [Team A] vs. [Team B]?' - 'Give me key stats for this matchup.' - 'Any recent news on [Team/Player]?' - 'What are the safest bets today?' - 'What high-risk plays have the best upside?' PickStar will retrieve relevant odds, historical data, and real-time news to help you make smarter bets.

Why do I need to verify my email and where is the verification email?

Email verification is a one-time security step that prevents duplicate accounts and keeps our platform secure. After signing up, we send a verification email to your registered email address. Important: Check your spam/junk folder! The verification email often ends up there. Look for an email from 'PickStar' with the subject 'Welcome to PickStar' or 'Verify your email'. The verification link expires in 1 hour. If you can't find the email: 1. Check all email folders (spam, junk, promotions, updates) 2. Search for 'PickStar' or 'noreply@pickstarai.com' 3. Click 'Resend Verification Email' on the verification page 4. Add noreply@pickstarai.com to your safe senders list Once verified, you'll have full access to PickStar immediately.

How do Quick Predictions work in sports dashboards?

Quick Predictions are the fastest way into PickStar. Instead of typing a question, you select up to 5 games on any dashboard and click 'Predict Winners' for an instant read on each one: the pick, a confidence level, and the reasoning behind it. Each game costs 7 Star Coins. They work best as a starting point, not a finish line. Every prediction has an 'Add to chat' option that carries the game and the AI's reasoning straight into a conversation, where you can dig into the odds, injuries, and recent news behind the call, or push back on it. Quick Predictions tell you where to look; chat is where you find out why.

What are xPicks and how do they work?

xPicks are AI-built best bets for a single game. Open any game card and run xPicks, and PickStar returns a short list of recommended bets with a confidence score on each, drawn from the same live odds, stats, injuries, and news the chat agents use. Everyone gets 2 free xPicks every day. After that, each one costs 9 Star Coins. Like Quick Predictions, xPicks pair best with chat: send the results into a conversation to see the reasoning behind each leg, compare it against the current line, or ask what would have to change for the call to flip.

Can PickStar analyze a screenshot of a pick?

Yes. Attach or paste a screenshot straight into the chat box: a pick from X, Instagram, or Facebook, a post from someone you follow, or a slip from your betting app. PickStar reads the text off the image and pulls out the teams, players, bet type, line, odds, and which side was taken. From there you can ask it anything about that bet, like whether the number still holds, what the injury picture looks like, or where it disagrees with the take. You can edit the extracted text before you send it, so a bad read never turns into a bad answer. Supported formats are PNG, JPEG, and WebP, up to 5MB.

How many screenshots can I analyze, and is my image stored?

Free accounts get one screenshot read per day, resetting at midnight in your local time. Pro is unlimited. Star Coins do not apply here: it is either your free daily read or Pro. The image itself is never kept. We store only the text pulled out of it, tied to your account, so the AI can refer back to that pick later in your research.

What are custom prompts and how do I save one?

A custom prompt is your own research routine, saved once and run with one click. Give it a name, an optional description and sport, then write how you want the AI to approach a game: your checklist for finding value on an underdog, the angles you always want covered, the questions you never want skipped. Write it once instead of retyping it every time. Your prompts live in the 'My Prompts' tab of the AI Toolkit inside chat, and in the Prompt Assistant panel on desktop. Click one and it runs in the conversation right away. If you have a game open, PickStar attaches that matchup for you, so the same routine runs on any game without rewriting a word. Editing and deleting are always free.

How many custom prompts can I save and run?

Free accounts keep 1 saved prompt and 1 prompt run per day. Pro keeps 3 saved prompts and 7 runs per day. Daily runs reset at midnight in your local time. Those are free allowances, not hard caps. You can save extra prompts for 33 Star Coins each, and run more past your daily limit for 11 Star Coins. Deleting a prompt frees the slot again at no cost, so you can always swap one out instead of paying for another.

Can I bring my own data into the analysis?

Yes, on Pro. Use the paperclip in the chat box to attach a CSV or Excel file: your own projections, a tracking sheet, custom metrics, whatever numbers you keep yourself. PickStar reads the file right in your browser, turns it into a table the AI can see, and answers your question with your numbers sitting next to its live odds, stats, injuries, and news. That makes questions like 'where do your reads disagree with my projections?' or 'which of these lines moved against my model today?' possible. CSV and Excel are the supported formats, and for Excel files the first sheet is the one that gets read.

What are the limits on uploaded files, and is my file stored?

One file per message, up to 100KB, 500 rows, and 50 columns. Bigger tables get trimmed before they reach the AI, and you will see a note saying how many rows were used. Attaching a new file replaces the previous one. Your file is never uploaded to us. It is read in your browser, and only the resulting table travels with your message, saved in that conversation like any other message. There is no separate data library yet, so your numbers apply to the conversation you shared them in. Attach the file again when you want it in a new chat.

How many games can I predict at once?

On desktop you can select up to 5 games per batch. The cap keeps responses fast and keeps prediction quality high on every game in the batch. On mobile, predictions currently run one game at a time; multi-game batches on mobile are on our roadmap. Either way, there is no daily batch limit. Predict your games, then select more and predict again. As long as you have Star Coins, you can keep going.

Is my work saved? Where do I find it later?

Everything is saved to your chat history: Quick Predictions, xPicks, your conversations, and Game Simulation output. Nothing you run disappears when you close the tab. Open your main chat to find it all, with the date, the games involved, the picks, confidence levels, and the reasoning behind each one. Game Simulation works slightly differently: when a simulation finishes, it prompts you with the saved report so you can pull the full breakdown back up whenever you want.

What should I do if my prediction shows 'N/A' or an error?

If your Quick Prediction returns 'N/A' or fails to process correctly, please take a screenshot showing: 1. The games you selected 2. The error or 'N/A' result 3. Your username Email this to support@pickstarai.com with 'Quick Prediction Error' in the subject line. We'll review your case and add the appropriate Star Coins back to your account within 14 business days. This rarely happens, but we'll always make it right!
